Oh my God, did you hear?! The O, an absolute legend for Pitt students and grads like me, is closing! It’s so sad that I might start crying. I mean, yeah, I would never go in there and actually buy food or anything, but I still didn’t want it to, like, shut down for good.
Man, my years at Pitt are full of awesome stories about that place I’ll never forget when my friends told me them afterwards in Towers lobby where I was waiting. The drama, the crazy people, the fry-eating competitions, all the other stuff they talked about excitedly while I nodded and laughed along — all of it, gone. It’s a damn shame!
My heart aches for incoming freshman, too, who will never get a chance to experience a run to the O at 3 a.m. after a night of partying. Sure, I never got a chance to recommend it directly to anybody I knew on campus, but obviously, as a huge Pitt supporter, I wanted them to go and keep the tradition alive.
At least I have all those memories of being outside pretending I was on the phone because one of customers looked at me kind of funny through the window. But what have the new kids got? Just tales of past.
Welp, I guess this is goodbye, old friend. You were truly bigger than Pitt life itself. Let it be a lesson to us all to cherish and support the places we care about!
Unless it looks, you know, a little sketch. Then maybe just like it on Facebook because every little bit helps, right?
