A message to interested writing contributors:
Articles make up the bulk of our Pittsburgh media, uh, ’empire.’ Likewise, they are the area we are aiming to expand upon the most — more than videos, memes, etc. If you think you got what it takes, send 5 headlines to the address above that you feel would do well on our site. A couple pointers before you do, though:
• Only 5 and only headlines. We don’t doubt the value of what you can do via the body content, but headlines are simply the most important part of winning readers over, so we’ll start there.
• We are a Pittsburgh-themed and -adjacent site. All your headlines don’t need to be centered directly on the city, but should be capable of making an impression on people from there. If the joke behind your headline is funny but too broad, then consider how you can wedge it into something more familiar.
• Listen, we love old Paulsen and Krenn bits. We know that there are some age-old tropes about Pittsburgh that always seem to pop up, and we, too, lean on them from time to time. Ultimately, though, we hope to do more with our material as well. Don’t go too hard with headlines that rely on things yinzers say, people slowing down before the tunnels, or declining stockpiles of milk and bread before a storm (yes, we have one of those articles already *sigh*).
