Having forfeited a costly fumble during the team’s final drive, Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster admitted after the loss that he had picked the worst possible time to advertise Pizza Hut’s new Extra Greasy Crust Pizza.

“Absolutely inexcusable,” the second-year wide receiver said, reminding his Twitter followers that nothing helps you bounce back from a letdown like a fresh order from Pizza Hut. “In a game’s critical moments, PR obligations require a side of ball security, much like Pizza Hut’s delicious breadsticks are the perfect side in any hunger-busting order. It’s going to take a while to swallow this loss, but at least I know it will go down easier with a refreshing Pepsi beverage.”

Smith-Schuster discussed ways he could have avoided the error in his post-game press conference.

“That was the ideal time to show off Pizza Hut’s unbeatable selection of wing flavors,” he said, then noting aloud how juicy the meat was in the wing he was currently eating. “A lot of those bold barbecue tones or the crafty use of honey would have made sure that the ball stayed securely in my hand, but I got cocky and went for the big product placement at the wrong time. It’s something I’m going to regret, unlike anything you could ever order from your local Pizza Hut location.”

Antonio Brown believes his young teammate will ultimately grow from the experience.

“There’s a learning curve, no doubt,” he said, as he posed for a post-game Instagram post. “I remember when I first got into this league: I thought I could push Pam Canola Oil Cooking Spray and still perform with the best. Needless to say, I learned my lesson quickly and moved on to brands that I can safely represent no matter the situation. Once he lets that smooth, citrus-based cola flavor of Pepsi take over, I’m sure he’ll realize.”

In an attempt to make up for the mistake, Smith-Schuster is reportedly funding a discount for all online Pizza Hut orders until the new year. To redeem the discount, simply enter “GOBAKER” when checking out.
